About
Welcome to my website! I have been interested in the Library Science field since I got my first college job at Parks Library in Ames, Iowa in 2003. Needless to say, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do after college, but I knew that the library science field was something I was interested in. Forward to 2008, I relocated to Iowa City, Iowa to follow through on that idea. As a graduate student in Library and Information Science at the University of Iowa, I learned many things about being in the field. Classes taught me the importance of social media and technology, while actual experience at Hardin Health Sciences Library and the Special Collections Department on campus helped me to understand the many hats librarians can wear.
In 2009, I had the opportunity to work at the Library of Congress in Washington DC for a summer as a junior fellow. Through this LOC program, I was given even more insight into what opportunities were available. Working with the Rare Book department, I saw all the amazing literary works and projects that came through the department on a continual basis.
Following my graduation from Iowa in 2010, I pursued a number of different jobs, including working as a librarian editor for a non-profit, staff member at a hospital library, as an art instructor, volunteer work at Herbert Hoover Presidential Library, and in the library at an elementary and high school. I am now looking into Teacher Librarian jobs, having just finished my teaching certification. I'm learning that you're never quite done learning, right along with your students!!
